Your voice carries strong and deep
Resonating over the walls I have built
Shielding me from attacks and prying eyes
Barricading my within from without
Standing imperial and permanently defiant
Until you call out to me
And I am shaken
The mortar of my inhibitions slowly
Methodically disintegrating
With your every disarming communique
Bricks falling away with your charm
And apparent sincerity wearing me down
You assassinate my guards one by one
And I lower them to their caskets
With my doubt for a grave mate
Your voice carries strong and deep
Brimming with a familiarity and a newness
I’ve never known
You lift me up on clouds of laughter
As my Berlin Wall comes crashing down.
