I used to wonder what it would be like,
being there,
amidst all that hustle,
all the glitter and bright lights,
all the celebrities with all their money.
I would get all their attention,
all the fame,
all the glamour of being young, sexy, brilliant, important.
I would have it all, and then some.
But I guess none of it ever really mattered.
I was there.
I got it all.
The only thing I didn’t get was her.
She was the only one I truly wanted,
even needed.
Her approval.
Her smiles.
Her thoughts.
Her touches.
There is a price to pay for everything
and I paid for tonight with a
nameless, faceless blonde by sacrificing
tomorrow with her.
It’s useless to think I can be happy now.
I am nothing,
I am everything,
I am here,
I am nowhere.
I am the man who sold the world.
