Trip to Anchorage

We took the kids down to Anchorage a couple weekends ago to see Uncle D and Grandpa. Camilla did awesome over the 8 hour trip down, while John and JR had a great time exploring the little pull-offs we utilized for diaper changes and feedings.

There was an incident of total asshole-ness at Gwennie’s when we were kicked out, after which we went to Village Inn for JR’s pancakes.

While down there, John took JR on his first (and second and eighth) go-kart rides — he had such a hard time getting the little guy to leave the track afterward.

JR also got his first horseback rides too! We thought he might be skittish or hesitant, but he was a complete natural, and rode the horses like he was just so proud of himself.

Good times.

A Year

It’s been one year today since my mother passed away. These last few weeks have been hard, but yesterday and today have been almost impossible. I’m trying really hard to think of all the things that I am grateful for, and there are many things, but I just feel the loss. Or I remember something about my mama, and ache because nothing will give me another minute with her to tell her one last time how much I love her.
